Scared to publish your blog or website? Try out these tips!

scared to publish

Gorgeous, you are ready to go viral!

Exciting, but at the same time you are a bit scared to publish your blog or website, right?

I’ve been through it. My clients go through it. I know how it feels… it’s such a nerve-wracking journey, so here I’ll share a few secrets with you to save you some emotional agony and mistakes new business owners go through. I want you to feel confident and ready, not scared to publish your blog for the first time.

Some challenges I can help you handle:

  • You worry about what people think

… and that is perfectly normal

And I’m sure you know that half of it is just in your head. That’s how we seem to work, but don’t let it influence your actions if you can help it. Worry will always try to hold you back if you let it. Keep going anyway. Go online, be brave and spread the word. You’ll see that worry will soon tire and not be able to keep up with you. And that is a pretty cool feeling. Be shamelessly amazing!

  • You hesitate to be your true self when writing

… but do it anyway

Even though it’s a bit scary. In the beginning, it’s tempting to write in a way that you think people would like to see it, instead of from your heart. It might take some time to find your style, but know that people want to connect with you as a person and that no formal content qualified for the corporate world can achieve that. Be yourself and be authentic. Be funny and scandalous if that’s who you are in real life. This will attract people who like you, and they will be your best clients ever.

  • You have no clue what you’re doing yet

…so get a minimum clue

The knowledge will make you feel better already. Feeling lost, in the beginning, is just the way it is, but it helps a lot to take the time to understand the very basics of what it means to have a website for an online business.  I’m sure you’ve had the experience that some things seem scary and complicated until you finally sit down and learn about them, just to find out it wasn’t that hard after all. You can get some easy-read beginner clue here.

  • You’re vulnerable to everyone’s opinions

…if you let them get to you

Trust yourself and take opinions for what they are – an opinion – not the one single truth served to you by a guru. Learn to filter good feedback from bad feedback, and keep in mind who you let have a say. Are they even qualified to have you consider their opinion? Read my blog post about it right here. And sometimes we agonize, grumble and feel hurt after the tiniest bit of negative feedback, and completely disregard all the positive feedback. Take a compliment when you get one, and enjoy the admiration. You deserve it!

Keep going!

You’ve got it in you, and you know that starting an online business is a journey of learning and growing, finding your way, being brave and improving. What eventually counts is that it’s your business and your website. Have fun with it, trust your intuition, and go viral.
