2 important functionalities for increasing conversion

conversion

Two super important functionalities for your website conversion

If you want to boost your conversion rate, the following two things must work perfectly:

  • A contact form/contact details &
  • A signup form

Think about this:

After your visitor has read your content, and your great content has made them feel like taking real action (the kind of action that leaves you with their email address) – then your website got to be ready for it.

Below a quick checklist, but before that a note about signup forms, because I see a lot of websites still don’t have them:

Why is the signup form important?

Because most potential clients are not going to contact you right away. They have visited your site, they found it valuable, but they are not ready to contact you for various reasons:

  • It’s a bit scary
  • They don’t trust you yet
  • They don’t need the service right away

It’s important to convince these visitors to leave their email addresses because having people on your mailing list gives you the opportunity to stay in touch, provide value and build up a virtual relationship.

If they hear from you regularly after their visit, it continuously reminds them that you are there for them, and what you can do for them. It builds up to the moment when they feel more ready and comfortable to take that next step to talk to you, and ideally become a client!

Checklist for you!

Getting in touch with you:

  • How can they contact you?
  • Is it easy to find your contact details?
  • If you have a contact form, does it work? (make a test!)

Getting on your mailing list

  • Where can they sign up to your mailing list?
    • Do you even have a signup form?
      • If yes: Is it highly visible and easy to find?
      • If no: Start planning one for reasons stated above.
  • And when they find it, are they intrigued enough to actually leave their name and email address?
    • Do you say “Sign up to my newsletter”?
      • If yes: Change it.
It doesn’t transmit the value you bring and is by many associated with boring company news. Call it updates, tips, inspiration, motivation… Whatever gives them a feeling they will receive something valuable in their inbox. Why would they want to give up their email address?
      • If no: Good!
    • Do you have a free gift?
      • If yes: Well done!
      • If no: Start planning one.
Most people need an incentive to be willing to give away their email address. They have enough emails in their inbox already. Think about why they want to have your email in their inbox? What do they want so much that they really want to exchange their email address for it?
    • Does the signup process work smoothly?
      • If yes: Cool – you’re on the right track 🙂
      • If no: get it fixed (I can help)
